Pressure Treated Balusters
Painted or stained balusters add a little color and a personal touch.
Many homeowners like to add a little touch of color to their deck or porch with painted handrails and balusters. Thanks to YellaWood®’s lighter, more natural appearance, you’ll get better paint or stain results than with other treated wood. Remember to consult your local building code requirements for railing height and spacing between balusters.
Deck baluster spacing
Unsure about how to space your deck or stair railing balusters? Use this simple formula to determine the correct spacing between balusters, measured from their centers. Before installation, be sure to check your local building codes for specific spacing requirements.
- Total rail length plus the width of one baluster = “A”
- “A” divided by the size of one space (must be less than 4 inches) plus the width of one baluster = “B”
- Round “B” up to the next whole number = “C”
- “A” divided by “C” = space from center to center of balusters
